Equinox Counseling & Consulting, LLC
Hi there!
I'm Lindsey Saltzman, LSCW, LICW, the founder and practitioner behind Equinox Counseling & Consulting, LLC. I have worked in the field since 2013 and am excited to offer individual telehealth services through my own private practice in Indiana, Kentucky, & Iowa!

I have worked with many different populations, from individuals in crisis, to first responders, to survivors of homicide/suicide. My true passion and specialty is working with first responders and survivors of intimate partner violence.
My Approach
I enjoy using a variety of different therapy techniques to help my clients find better balance & healthier relationships throughout their life. As such, I push my clients to realize the patterns preventing them from achieving the life they desire and follow through on a plan to change them. Sessions typically includes humor, tough questions, validation, and accountability - all wrapped up in an hour appointment. I also try to be as authentic as possible with my clients to foster open trusting relationships.

My Story
I earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern Indiana in 2013 and am licensed in the state of Indiana (License # 34007677A), Kentucky (License # 259038), and Iowa (License #125221). I was an embedded clinician within a law enforcement agency and on a mobile crisis response team for 5 years in Charleston, South Carolina, both of which included daily interaction with first responders on mental health crisis & negotiation scenes. I also provided therapy services to victims of various crimes including domestic violence, sexual assault, & homicide/suicide survivors. This is where my true passion for first responder/trauma services began.

I am trained in various evidence based practices including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), & Grief Therapy. I also have specialty training in suicide prevention, first responder mental health, & victim services. I am certified in individual & group intervention (CISM) by the ICSIF & in 2019 became a Certified Clinical Supervisor in the state of South Carolina. I was also awarded the Mount Pleasant Police Department Community Service Award in 2021 & named their Civilian of the Quarter for quarter 3 of 2021. All of these together help me provide unique client-centered services that allow my clients to feel both validated and challenged.

Outside of my own professional training, I work diligently to expand mental health treatment and education for first responders. I have provided trainings to first responder agencies in the areas of mental health basics, trauma-informed policing, crisis intervention/de-escalation, and first responder mental health. In March 2024 at the University of Southern Indiana Spring Social Work Conference, I presented the topics of Helping the Helpers: Individual Services for First Responders and Medical Professionals and Safety Planning: Building Provider Confidence and Reducing Client Risk. I also presented at the NASW Indiana/Kentucky Fall 2024 Conference, presenting the topic of Helping the Helpers: Individual Mental Health Services for First Responders. There is a lack of adequate mental health care for those who give so much and my ultimate goal is to promote a shift in this system.

I grew up and currently reside in Southwestern Indiana with my family. I am a LEO wife, "boy mom", and animal lover. I enjoy spending time outdoors, playing with my husky Malakai (aka my forever "Employee of the Month"), & learning about astronomy - hence the name of my practice!
